Start with the superb grassy mountains of Yangmingshan that overlook Taipei before working your way down to the fast rocky coastal plains that wind around the NE coast of Taiwan. From here take your pick from tea-lined mountain roads through lush river valleys or more coastal action that brings you out at the foot of the mighty Northern Cross Island Link. Smoothing hot springs await before we head up into the mountains to 1200m and enjoy a brilliant journey through to the impressive Lalashan Forest Reserve with its impressive high mountain vistas and thousand year old trees! We finish up with a marvelous downhill through the Tayal heartland and some of the most alluring scenery in Northern Taiwan. Huge local culture, spectacular riding, and delightful scenery!

From Taipei enjoy a scenic ride through to the East Coast before we head up into the rugged Shiueshan Mountain Range and experience some outstanding high altitude riding. Sheer drop offs, rocky mountains and some of the most spectacular high alpine scenery anywhere in the world greet us as we work our way deep into the Central Mountain Range. We top out at an impressive 3275m before beginning a superlative downhill through beautiful mountain vistas and high altitude agriculture plantations. After an overnight stop to enjoy the hot springs around Wushe we continue down to the sparkling waters of Sun Moon Lake and one of the islands most spectacular natural landscapes. An outstanding itinerary that will leave you dizzy with excitment!

Another epic itinerary that starts with a fast undulating river lined low altitude ride out to the sandy beaches of the NE Coast. From here a choice of either the mountains or the coast down to Eastern Taiwan and up into the rugged Shiueshan Mountain range as in the itinerary above. After feasting on the jaw-dropping mountain scenery and riding the high alpine route through to the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area we enter into Taroko National Park and one of the best downhill’s in the world. Get set for a gnarly descent as we plummet from the cloud- piecing Central Cordillera through a multitude of climate zones and into the pristine Taroko Gorge. A geological wonderland with steep cliffs, lush vegetation, smooth marble walls, and crystal clear waterfalls that provides truly world-class scenery! An enchanting collection of riding that will leave you breathless!

From Taipei enjoy a scenic ride through tea-lined river valleys and alluring scenery that brings you out onto the east coast and the foot of the mighty Northern Cross Island Link. After a soothing mountain hot spring we climb up into the Mingchih National Forest Recreation Area and enjoy the tranquil alpine scenery this area is famous for. Following the series of gorges created by the Dahan River we enter the incredibly atmospheric Lalashan Nature Reserve and enjoy the divine views it provides through the Central Mountain Range along with the collection of huge thousand year old cypress trees. More downhill follows as we continue through this majestic terrain and enter the heartland of the Atayal aboriginal tribal area. Superb riding around the Shimen Reservoir leads us into the culturally rich and scenically beautiful back-county of Hsinchu where we enjoy more fantastic riding and plenty of authentic delicious local cuisine! A great north to south itinerary that gets you off the beaten track and to places you would never find otherwise. This itinerary has it all with hot springs, beautiful mountain scenery, massive culture and plenty of ups and downs!

A rip-roaring itinerary that will leave you dazzled as we head up into the Central Mountain Range and enjoy some of the best mountain vistas available in Taiwan. After stopping to enjoy the wonderful hot springs and delicious cuisine of Wushe we continue up the spectacular, winding mountainous road that takes us up through the clouds and to a staggering altitude of 3275m, one of the highest road points in Asia! What follows is absolute ecstasy as we plummet down the east side on one of the longest and most breathtaking descents in the world that takes us into the superb Taroko National Park Area and out onto the east coast. If that wasn’t enough we then enter the fertile rift valley which is a haven of hot springs, forests, rivers, butterfly filled valleys, idyllic fishing villages, rice paddies and arguably some of the best road riding available in Taiwan. A superb itinerary that will truly leave you dazzled!

From Taichung we ride into the enchanting Sun Moon Lake Scenic Area and enjoy lakeside lodging looking out onto the largest body of freshwater in Taiwan. With a background of forested mountains and striking natural landscape we head up into the mountains and into the northern tip of Yushan National Park. Famous for its good weather, remarkable scenery, and relaxing hot springs we continue through the lush mountains and into the Alishan National Scenic Area. At an altitude of over 2000m this area offers cool, relaxing, well developed mountain retreats along with pristine and often rugged terrain. We finish our epic trip through the Central Scenic Areas with a blistering downhill onto the western plains that provides the perfect tonic to a great adventure. Lush terrain, superb scenery and a fantastic journey through 2 of Taiwan’s best scenic areas!

Get set for arguably one of the most stunning routes in Asia and an unforgettable itinerary as we tackle not one but two of Taiwan’s impressive Cross Island Links. We commence with the mesmerizing landscape of Sun Moon Lake before passing through the lofty heights of the Central Mountain range and the superb mountain vistas from 3275m! What goes up must come down and we enjoy the rewards of our hard climb with one of the best downhill’s in the world through Taroko National Park and the massive marble walls that line the gorge. Next is the biking paradise of the magnificent east rift valley before we once again enter the mountains and experience the dramatic Southern Cross Island Link. Skirting the southern side of Yushan National Park this is arguably the most exhilarating of the three cross island links as we slice across Southern Taiwan in a dramatic, no-nonsense traverse of the Central Cordillera that will leave you clutching to the edge of your seat. Undeniably one of the best riding experiences you will find anywhere on the planet!

For those looking for something a bit less mountainous this lower altitude route through the western foothills may be just the ticket. A nice north to south itinerary that takes us from Taichung down to Kaohsiung through a maze of backroads and idyllic scenery. We also pass through a number of different aboriginal areas and experience first-hand the various cultures, languages, lifestyles and delicious cuisine that make these people so unique! Of course, being Taiwan, it’s not all flat and we throw in some undulating mountains to keep us away for the population hubs on the west coast and ensure a journey that is filled with great riding, lots of history, and plenty of hot springs!
Grading: Beginner to Intermediate

Another delightful itinerary that takes you deep in the mountains and up the impressive Southern Cross Island Link before emerging onto the east coast and a choice of either heading south to Taidong or north to Hualien. Either way this customized itinerary will provide you with plenty of action, some challenging climbs, a huge downhill and endless superb scenery!

An extension to the itinerary above as we start with a challenging climb up the Southern Mountain Range to the famous ‘sea of clouds’ phenomenon at 2772m. The riding and scenery on the way down to the east coast is impressive as we pass by tiny Bunun villages, striking canyons and drop through several distinct ecosystems. After enjoying the hot springs and vertigo inducing suspension bridge at Wulu we emerge onto the eastern plains and work our way down to Pingtung County and the lush fertile backroads that take us into the beach resort of Kenting. With its warm tropical climate and magnificent white beaches Kenting is the perfect place to unwind before we head up the west coast back to Kaohsiung. An itinerary of contrasts as we go from the high mountains to the beach laden coastline of the south on a trip that you’ll remember for a lifetime!
