A superb trip that takes you up into the majestic mountains that overlook Taipei full of hot springs, tall grasses, forests and bamboo; and down onto the fast NE coastal area with it rock formations and varied coastal scenery. We spend the evening at a wonderful resort on the coast before working our way up into the tea lined mountains of Pinglin and back around to the outskirts of Taipei. Excellent riding, beaches, coastal terrain, mountains, tea-lined river terraces & great local culture!

A high intensity itinerary that takes you deep into the Northern Shueishan Mountain Range and down to the Yilan plains on Taiwan’s east coast where we enjoy a soak in the Japanese mountain hot springs and relax at our wonderful riverside cabins. The next day we head back up into the mountains to 1200m and ride through the majestic Northern Cross Island link with its many waterfalls, forest reserves, ancient trees, rivers and gorges. Big miles, adrenalin buzzing downhill’s, grinding climbs, rugged scenery and lots of fun!

Explore the rich culture and splendid scenery of back-country Hsinchu as we take you on a roller-coaster journey through the heart of the Atayal Aboriginal area. A great north to south itinerary that gets you off the beaten track and to places you would never otherwise find. This itinerary has it all- hot springs, a huge variety of riding terrain, magnificent temples, beautiful mountain scenery, local cuisine, massive culture, and plenty of ups & downs!

Start your weekend with an evening in downtown Taichung before commencing a beautiful ride through a maze of back mountain roads to the superb Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area. Sun Moon Lake is the largest body of freshwater in Taiwan and has one of the islands most spectacular natural landscapes. At an altitude of 762m, its calm, emerald-green waters reflect the lush tiers of high, forested mountains that tower around, creating some memorizing memorizing scenery. We stay right on the lakefront and enjoy more riding through the scenic area the following day before making our way through the massive betel nut plantations and back towards Taichung. Some of the most beautiful riding available in Taiwan!
Grading: Beginner to Intermediate

Challenge yourself to the ultimate ride as we tackle the highest road in NE Asia at a staggering 3275m! We start from outside Taichung and work our way through the heart of Taiwan and up to the wondrous hot springs at the foot of the Central Cross Island Link. The following day we climb to the top of the Central link and marvel at the magnificent views and mighty climb we have just completed. What follows is an electric descent as we descend through a multitude of altitude zones and enjoy some of the best mountain scenery on offer in Taiwan. We finish our wonderful weekend of riding at a superb Japanese style hot spring before departing back to Taichung. Quite simply an outstanding ride and world-class scenery!

A quick transfer from Kaohsiung takes us to an awesome hot spring resort situated on the southern slopes of Mt. Yushan where we enjoy some of the best Aboriginal food on the island. The next day we tackle the mighty Southern Cross Island Link which at 2800m is truly impressive with its ‘sea of cloud’ effect, thousand year-old trees, spectacular mountain scenery, gorges and rivers. We spend the night at altitude in a unique Bunun Tribal area before plummeting back down into civilization and more hot springs the next day! This is one of In Motion Asia’s favorite rides and highly recommended for intermediate to advanced riders. The Southern Cross Island link that slices across Taiwan in a dramatic, no-nonsense traverse of the Central Cordillera will leave you clutching to the edge of your seat!

Another epic ride into the high mountains that takes us deep into the traditional homeland of the Rukai Aboriginal tribe, known chiefly for their hunting prowess and their signature slate-slab houses. The scenery here is superb with steep roadside drop-offs framed by rushing waterfalls at almost every turn. We spend the night at altitude surrounded by some of Taiwan’s most undiluted local culture before enjoying the fantastic downhill and scenery the following day. An epic trip that will leave you in awe of Taiwan!

Get set for a roller-coaster ride through Kenting National Park situated on the southern tip of Taiwan and home to some of the best riding in Taiwan. Kenting which sits at a confluence of fault lines and tectonic plates, has been pushed, pulled and twisted into a complex network of low-lying mountains, grassy meadows, steep cliffs, sand dunes and elaborate coral formations. For the road rider this means excellent undulating terrain, a huge variety of scenery and plenty of wildlife. Add to this the magnificent white-sand beaches, comfortable accommodation, and mardi gras style local town and you have an excellent weekend of riding and fun! The Kenting Express is the perfect winter escape and provides an outstanding array of riding.
