FAQ's We realize that taking a tour in a foreign country means that you probably have 101 questions. Here are some of the more popular questions for you to pursue. How fit do I have to be? Out tours cover mostly moderate with some challenging terrain.The fitter you are the more enjoyable the experience will be. We can customize tours to meet all levels and abilities. What type of people join the tours? Out tours are highly sociable adventures! Generally participants are aged between 20-65 with a mixture of clients from the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australasia.Everybody is welcome and the mixture of ages and nationalities is one of great aspects of our tours. Do we do anything besides biking? Absolutely! We have white water rafting, 4WD ATV Quad Bikes, zip lines and climbing activities. We take an amazing tour through the spectacular Taroko Gorge, countless visits to hot springs, BBQ's and a terrific culture experience to finish our tour! We also have a number of extension options. What will the weather be like? Taiwan has an oceanic and subtropical monsoon climate. Summers are hot, while winters are short and usually mild. All our tours are during the spring and fall seasons to give us the highest possibility of avoiding the rain, heat and typhoons. Am I able to hire a bike? Yes, Taiwan is a bicycle manufacturing powerhouse and we have bikes available that are suited to our tours. Contact us with your requirements. What language do the tour guides speak? All our tour guides and leaders speak English and Chinese. Are non-riding participants welcome? Sure, but you must remember that these are biking tours. There are plenty of fascinating towns, villages, markets and scenic spots to keep anyone happy. Can we bring the kids? We don't encourage children under 16 years of age, but if you want to come as a family we can stretch the rules a little. What is included? Generally we include everything from day one until the end of the tour. This includes meals, accommodation, transport, guides and mountain permits. What is not included? International airfares, visas, spending money, optional extensions or activities, any bike hire charges and additional drinks. Do I need insurance? Travel insurance is compulsory on all In Motion Asia tours and is a condition of booking with us. Your travel insurance must provide cover against personal accident expenses, emergency repatriation and personal liability. We have insurance packages available should you need one. What are the visa requirements for Taiwan? Citizens of most countries may enter Taiwan for up to 30 days. Check with your local consulate or travel agent. *Should you have any additional questions please feel free to contact us.* GRADINGS TOP Tours are graded to distinguish the appropriate level of fitness and expertise required to participate. All tours have support vehicles where possible although a lot of the trails in Taiwan are inaccessible by vehicle and travel from point to point. Send us an email, tell us what you are looking for and we will assist you the best we can. Easy: Routes chosen will be easy and often ridden entirely at you own pace, suitable for families. Moderate: Routes chosen will require a reasonable level of fitness and experience on different terrains. Challenging: Routes chosen will include longer climbs and more technical skills. Extreme: Routes will be steep and the adrenalin factor will be huge! Options for dropping out will be minimal so you need to be in for the duration. TERMS & CONDITIONS TOP Deposits and Payments We require a 25% deposit to secure your booking. The remaining balance is to be paid no later than 30 days prior to the tour departure. In the unlikely event that we are unable to operate the tour all payments and deposits will be refunded 100%, or may be transfer to another tour. There will be no refunds once the tour has commenced.All tours are charged in Taiwan Dollars (TWD). Prices may change due to currency fluctuations. Methods of Payment International Bank Transfer. Cancellations - A cancellation 90 days or more prior to departure will result in a loss of 50% of the deposit. - Cancellations made between 90 days and 60 days prior will result in full loss of deposit. - Cancellations made between 60 and 30 days will result in a 50% loss of full tour cost. - Cancellations made less than 30 days prior to tour departure will result in 100% loss of full tour cost. You may transfer the amount paid to another tour, up to 30 days prior to original departure date. We strongly recommend that clients have full personal travel insurance that covers for the refund on monies paid in case either party cancels the tour for whatever reason. Tour Conditions - In Motion Asia reserves the right to modify itineraries as needed. - There is no refund for arriving late or leaving a tour early. - In Motion Asia shall not be held responsible for any damage, expense or inconvenience caused by late arrival of public transport, change of schedule, strikes, vehicle breakdown, weather, Acts of God, or other conditions. - All participants are required to sign the "Release of Liability and Assumption of All Risks" and personal information forms prior to departure. Travel Insurance In Motion Asia insists that all clients must take out comprehensive travel insurance before joining one of our tours. There are inherent risks involved in biking and we will not be liable for you medical expenses or evacuation in case of an accident. This insurance must include adequate coverage for any personal accident, medical expenses, injury, death and repatriation. Insurance should also provide coverage for cancellations and curtailment of the tour. Clients should also ensure that there are no exclusion clauses limiting protection for any dangerous or unusual activities that might be included on their tour. If you join the tour without adequate insurance you will be disallowed from continuing without the right of refund. Clients are solely responsible for arranging their own insurance and they should ensure that they are covered for the duration of their tour. You will need to provide copies of your insurance before commencing the tour. This protects both of us.Should you need our assistance we have access to comprehensive insurance packages that we have negotiated with a local insurance company at a competitive rate.
